Universal Destinations & Experiences has conjured up a name for its Vegas horror attraction.
Universal Horror Unleashed will be the home of the Comcast NBCUniversal division’s bid to expand its deep genre catalog into a year-round horror experience, announced back in January, following its growing success with the seasonal, bicoastal event Halloween Horror Nights.
“Universal Horror Unleashed is another way we are using our unique style of horror storytelling to engage fans of this genre,” said Page Thompson, president, New Ventures, Universal Destinations & Experiences. “We look forward to bringing frightful fun to Las Vegas year-round.”

The company’s first-ever permanent horror attraction will be located in AREA15, as the anchor tenant in a 20-acre expansion of the immersive entertainment district of Las Vegas. It already includes District One, which opened in 2020 with 200,000 square feet of space and another 100,000 planned for District Two.
The horror experience will combine Universal’s long-standing horror expertise with immersive experiences designed for an all-new format. Those horror-centric experiences will surround themed eateries and bar areas with continuously updated experiences, including seasonal events and merchandise.
It will be different from both its Universal Studios Florida and Hollywood locations, which already host HHN — an event that’s increasingly incorporating owned and borrowed IP, such as Universal Monsters, Blumhouse, Chucky, Netflix’s Stranger Things, and more into its annual experiences.
Over the past year, Universal Destinations & Experiences has announced its name rebrand, as well as plans for a theme park aimed at younger kids and families in Texas, to open in 2026; facial recognition technology for its Universal Epic Universe Florida theme park, schedule to open in 2025; a DreamWorks Animation-themed land for 2024 also in Orlando; and a planned Fast & Furious Rollercoaster for Universal Hollywood, featuring two trains that can hold up to 16 people each and 360-degree rotation ride vehicles.
